Where we are

At Steinmeyer, we understand that as one of the top tax payers and employers in our town we have reponsibilities. Sustained growth and sustainable development is our priority. A few years ago we purchased additional land for future expansions. An extinct company had its factory there, the remains of which were cleared with the help of the town, the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg and with federal support. Many small lots were combined. Some of the cleared land became the site of Steinmeyer's 2007 factory expansion, and some was put aside for the future.

In a small town, a company like Steinmeyer is not only seen as taxpayer and employer. We understand ourselves also as an ambassador of our town.  Our factory complex, situated at the intersection of two highways, is one of the first sights for a visitor entering Albstadt. And we always want to make a good impression.

Education

Education is key. Our training center is home to our apprentices who learn the trade during their 3 1/2 years of apprenticeship. As a certified mechanic they have a wealth of opportunities - either as a Steinmeyer employee, or with further education. Steinmeyer collaborates with the local college where select candidates can then add a degree such as bachelor of science in engineering. Steinmeyer assists them financially through scholarship funds and a guaranteed job offer.

For those who prefer a career in business management, there is a three year education program.

Life

Padded shorts, sun glasses, helmet and those click-pedal shoes that make people walk like ducks, that's the standard outfit each July when 2500+ mountain bike pros and amateurs gather for one weekend of serious cycling. We can measure this race course, which circles the town of Albstadt just once, in miles: It's 55 miles or so. But more important is the accumulated ascent: 1,600 meters!

Steinmeyer participates not only as a sponsor, but also with a race team. Our team members start training each weekend in spring (once the snow has melted), and several times a week during the last few weeks before the race. But it's not so much about winning. Everyone wants one of those "finisher" t-shirts, for which one has to ride, walk or crawl across the finish line (with a bike!) no more than 6 hours after the race has started. And that is difficult enough!

Not to forget our soccer team, which can easily measure up to those famous soccer clubs that play in the big tournaments. Okay, maybe in terms of enthusiasm only, but that's a start.
